I was fully prepared to work with the drum line that morning. Only we stayed inside the entire 2 periods and just watched the news I sat in the back with the kids and hacked around on pads and floor. It didn't really sink in until I went home and the news was still on this story. Honestly didn't realize the impact at South cause my mind was focused on drum line issues that I wasn't able to fix because of missing a full day of rehearsal with them. My earliest musical memories include sneaking in to the living room late at night and listening to my mom's Thriller album on the turntable (and memorizing the intricate artwork on the Dangerous CD), and watching his HBO special on VHS over and over and over and over..... as well as my dad staging me to be directly in front of the tv as Michael transformed into a werewolf in the much beloved Thriller video. I think I'm still traumatized from that. I also had hoped to one day see him live in concert. I've heard rumors that Justin Timberlake has volunteered to step in and do a tribute performance, which would be cool, but of course not the same. No matter what terrible things people have been saying about him, his music and charity has been an inspiration to millions and his legacy will not be forgotten. qUazAr! and I have talked about going to the memorial service in LA, whenever it may be, if I happen to have it off work.
