No, I’m not making a reference to the amazing D. This is the start of a new series of mixes I plan on creating. They are tributes to the incredible DJ’s/artists who have influenced my “musical career.”
The first in the series is David Guetta who hails from Paris, France. From Guetta Blaster to his newest album One Love, this DJ has had a major influence on dance music around the world. His biggest hits are collaborative works where he creates the music and a vocalist provides the means to bring the listener into the song through lyric. In the past, he has worked with the very talented Chris Williams. More recently, he has worked with Kelly Rowland from Destiny’s Child on the track “When Love Takes Over” and rappers Will.I.Am and Akon for other tracks on One Love.
David Guetta has always been trying to breach the barrier between America and dance/electronica. Here is a video from the DJmag Awards Top 100 at the Ministry of Sound where David talks a little bit about his philosophy and predictions for 2010 (skip to 8min30sec for David). That is why he is an inspiration to me, not only because of his great, great hits, but also because he wants EVERYONE to experience dance/electronica like the hardcore people do. It’s all about the music and always has been.
BTW this is also the first mix I have created using my new Stanton scs.3d controller. I am LOVING it so far!
